Unions: Des Houghton Vs Peter Simpson

Ahead of Qld votes 2015, victory may come down to Qld's non-members of parliament.

Qld Votes 2015 Unions Bikies Drugs   On the day most Queenslanders returned to work and the one prior to Queensland parliament resuming, The Courier Mail splashed the drugs-bikies-unions-ALP story across it's front page.

On the weekend prior, CM columnist Des Houghton took to print and online media to denounce the union movement in a piece entitled 'Police and politicians for years turned a blind eye and let union thuggery flourish'.

Des has blocked me on Twitter (@Qldaah).

However, I'm quite sure if we ever sat down for a beer together we'd have a great debate.
As my Twitter feed will attest, I am in regular contact with the Electrical Trades Union state secretary, Peter Simpson over twitter (@etuqldnt).

I'm quite sure we'd also have a robust debate over a beer too.

Always an advocate of free speech with manners implied, when Peter indicated to me his response to Des at The Courier Mail may not be published I sought permission to publish here.

Without further delay, here's Des's piece followed by Peter's.

As always, make informed decisions about an issue and make up your own mind.
