Rob Bio

Robert Groothuis is what some may call a die-hard backpacker.

Most recently in China he still opted to stay at backpackers, though now over 40, he prefers the comfort of a private room, as dorms tend to usually include someone who snores rather loudly.

All starting with that first overseas family trip to Fiji, and inheriting the travel gene from his parents who travelled Europe for 12 months in the 1960’s.  As time and money have permitted over the years, he has criss-crossed the globe, searching for that perfect photo and writing about his experiences.

It is widely known, that the more you travel, the more the list grows of places to see in the world.   For Robert, Everest base camp and Cuba, are just a couple of places left in store for another adventure in the future. He's still waiting to hear back from the Emperor penguins for permission to land in Antarctica.

Robert lives in Auckland, New Zealand with his Irish wife, Mary and cat Bob.
